After nearly a decade as a public health professional, Kate Allen Fox made the jump from office to keyboard. Now, she spends her days reading stories to her kids and writing stories for kids everywhere.
Her debut picture book, Pando, A Living Wonder of Trees (illustrated by Turine Tran, published by Capstone), was named one of the best books of 2021 by School Library Journal and Chicago Public Library and a finalist for the SCBWI Crystal Kite Award. Little, Brown will publish her second picture book, A Few Beautiful Minutes (illustrated by Khoa Le), in 2023. She is represented by Leslie Zampetti of Dunham Literary, and her writing has appeared in numerous outlets including, The New York Times, McSweeney’s, and Motherwell Magazine.
Kate writes lyrical picture books, using her professional background to translate science in ways that inspire wonder and curiosity about the natural world. She's an avid hiker and often find inspiration in National Parks and on the trails of southern California.
